United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women at Searcy is a small but active group who meet once a month

on the 2nd Monday.  As part of their meeting they have a meaningful program, business

reports and discussion, and  friendly fellowship.  Several times throughout the year special

programs are arranged with guest speakers. As for projects, the UMW pledge to Missions

as well as the Second Mile Giving for Missions.  Other projects include: collecting soup labels

to earn money for the United Methodist Children's Home, collecting aluminum cans to earn

money for the "Fellowship Hall Window Fund," and collecting canned food for donations to

Griffin's local "Five Loaves" Food Pantry. The United Methodist Women plan several activities

throughout the year:  The Annual Yard Sale, Family Christmas Party, and a Summer Picnic

at Dundee Lake to name a few. They are a hard-working group and an integral part of the

ministry of Searcy Memorial UMC.  If you are interested in mission, outreach, fellowship, and

fun, the United Methodist Women invite you to join them every second Monday at 3:00 pm.

Young-at-Heart

This group of Senior Adults at Searcy Memorial UMC is constantly on the move!  A part of their

regular activities is visiting Searcy's homebound members and those in nursing homes.

Once a month they get together for a "Young-at-Heart Night Out" and go out to eat at various

places in Griffin and surrounding areas.  Several times throughout the year the group travels to places

of interest like Andersonville, Plains, and Warm Springs, Georgia. They are a Spirit-filled group who

are ready at the drop of a hat to pitch in and help with any project, and mention the word "go"

and they ask "when? " So, if you're a "senior" and like the sound of Searcy Memorial's

Young-at-Heart, join us!  The more, the merrier!

"The F Troop"

"Fun, Fellowship, and Food" -- that's the "F Troop".  Join them on the 4th Thursday of

every month for a Program, beginning at 11:00 a.m., followed by a covered dish lunch

at Noon.  Bring one dish and a friend, and enjoy a morning out with the"F Troop."
